Who didn’t LOVE their boombox back in the 80’s and 90’s? Sure it was big and heavy, but that was half the fun! Well, since now everything we carry fits in our purses and pockets, New Wave Toys wanted to bring back the iconic music device, faithfully-made, but POCKET-sized. Meet the M90 MINI and the M90 MICRO.
These, “1980s Golden-Era,” boombox replicas are meant to provide the same function and experiences of the boombox you used to own, but at a fraction of the cost and size. Returning are the rabbit ears to allow you to listen to radio stations (such as 94.7 WLS) and even a cassette door (although it’ll be too small for your cassettes to fit in). New functions include bluetooth compatibility so your boombox can function as a speaker for your phone or laptop, a USB port and a USBc charge port so you won’t have to fill the device with batteries.
The pledge goal that New Wave Toys set for the project was $75,000. They are now well over that amount, exceeding $178,000 at the time this article was written. That means, these will definitely be coming to the general public! You can still pledge now to the project; pledging will get you one or more of their mini boomboxes. Check out the Kickstarter HERE.
