Night Court’s John Larroquette was Paid in Weed to Lend his Voice to 1974’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre

NBC‘s Night Court is back tonight, Tuesday, January 17th. So this is the perfect opportunity to share this interesting fact about one returning star…

John Larroquette reprises his role in the reboot as Dan Fielding, the former sleazy prosecutor, now public defender for the new series. In an interview with Parade, Larroquette revealed an interesting detail about one of his earliest acting roles…

Did you know John Larroquette was in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre? He’s actually the narrator in the opening of the film!

But that’s not even the most interesting part about this film trivia… Larroquette performed this role for only some marijuana from director Tobe Hooper. Turns out, he was friends with the director of the ultra-low-budget movie. The two met when Larroquette was a bartender and Hooper was working on a project in town.

Neither knew the small movie would blow up to be an all-time horror movie classic! To this day, John Larroquette hasn’t seen Texas Chainsaw Massacre; he’s not a horror movie fan.
