Chicago has earned a familiar honor once again, marking an impressive 10-year run, and it’s a distinction many residents won’t find surprising.
Chicago was once again named the Best Big City in the U.S. by readers of the Condé Nast Traveler magazine, becoming the only city to hold the title for 10 consecutive years. Nearly 800,000 readers submitted responses for this year’s Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, which is now in its 39th year.
Chicago first earned the title in 2017 for its vibrant neighborhoods, celebrated cultural institutions, world-class dining scene and renowned hospitality, and has held onto the top ranking ever since.
“It’s no wonder Chicago tops this list yet again,” the publication said, in part. “A world-class destination known for its impressive architecture, first-rate museums, brilliant chefs, and massive brewing scene, it’ll take several repeat visits to get through your list of must-dos.”
The rankings are divided into the Best Big Cities and the Best Small Cities, with Chicago claiming the top spot among large cities such as New York City, Boston and San Francisco. Another Midwest city also earned high marks, with Milwaukee landing at No. 5 on the list.
