A report from a Topeka, Kansas radio station suggests that AC/DC will announce the details of a 2019-2020 world tour next Wednesday (July 17th).
The station, KDVV-FM or V100, cited a “reliable source” that it described as “close to the AC/DC camp,” although it cautioned, “Obviously, we’re talking about the music biz here, [so] things could change. But, right now that’s what we’ve been told.”
The report says that the tour will include longtime singer Brian Johnson, who had to leave the group mid-tour in 2016 due to a dangerous level of hearing loss. The station claims, “Brian has been working (with) special in-ears made for his performances so that he can continue to perform without causing any more damage to his hearing than he already has.”
Rumors of a new AC/DC record have been circulating for several months, ever since Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd, along with guitarists Angus Young and Stevie Young, were photographed outside Vancouver’s Warehouse Studios. Rudd exited the band just at the start of the Rock Or Bust touring cycle in late 2014. Bassist Cliff Williams, who retired in 2016, was also photographed in the city.
Online reports have also indicated Angus Young will dedicate the new AC/DC album to his late brother, Malcolm Young, who also left the band in 2014 due to the onset of dementia and died in 2017.
