Paul McCartney is thrilled to be at number 1

For the first time since he topped the charts way back in 1982 with his Tug Of War collection, Paul McCartney has scored his first Number One album on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his latest album, Egypt Station.  Egypt Station, which is the former-Beatle‘s eighth solo chart-topper, marks his first album to enter the Billboard 200 at the top spot.

McCartney shared with Billboard his reaction to the news.  “You know, it feels really great. ‘Cause you can’t get much higher than No. 1, you know? It really feels great.”  The Classic Hits legend really hit the press junket hard with this album.  From appearing on James Corbin’s “Carpool Karaoke” to performing music from the new album live, Paul McCartney really wanted to get the word out for Egypt Station.  “The worst thing is if people say, “Oh, you’ve got an album out? I didn’t know.”

McCartney went on to tell Billboard he had a lot of fun promoting the album in ways he thought were “cool.”  Read the full interview with Billboard here.
