July was the HOTTEST month on record

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said yesterday (August 15th) that July was the hottest month since records began being kept in 1880. July was 1.71 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the 20th century average of 60.4 degrees for the month, and since July is generally the warmest month of the year, this means it set a new all-time monthly record.

The NOAA’s records show that 9 of the 10 hottest Julys on record have occurred since 2005. The record July came after a record June, with this June also having been the hottest on record.
