CDC: This Year’s Flu Shot Only Worked A Third Of The Time

Have you had the flu this winter? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that between November 2nd and February 3rd, the total flu vaccine effectiveness was estimated at 36 percent. But that percentage varied greatly depending on which strand of the flu a person got, as well as the person’s age.

And though 36 percent doesn’t seem like much the CDC emphasizes that even a small increase in immunity can have a large impact on public health. With weeks left to go in flu season, CDC officials are still pushing for people to get vaccinations, in hopes of mitigating the impact of what has been a particularly brutal epidemic. (Time)
