About The Show
About Dave
Dave is the son of actor, DJ and talk radio host Jerry Fogel. At the age of six, Dave moved to Hollywood, CA when his father started working on the TV series "The Mothers-in-Law." (Jerry also starred in "The White Shadow" and had guest roles on numerous other television shows). Dave attended Granada Hills High School in Los Angeles where he played on the football team with Super Bowl MVP John Elway.[1][2] He also attended high school with actress Valerie Bertinelli, they were in the same algebra class.
In order to live a more "normal" life, Dave's dad moved the family to Kansas City, where Dave attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity living in the house then with Brad Pitt.[3]
Sheryl Crow was at Mizzou at the same time, and she gave the guys singing lessons of the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. It appeared Dave just could not get away from show biz!
On the radio in Chicago since the mid 90s, Dave and his family have always loved Chicago and the Cubs, Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks. OK, some White Sox games too. Dave's wife Melanie worked at the Hinsdale Schools where they attended growing up. Their daughter became a swimmer at The University of Arkansas and their son played baseball for Southern Illinois University.
The family is pretty spread out now working on careers and families of their own, but Chicago will always be "home" for the Fogels.
About Kim
Kim was born in NYC but spent much of her childhood here in Chicago hanging with her cousins and pressing her nose against the glass of the giant dollhouse (which she still wants to live in) at the Museum of Science and Industry, riding rides at Old Chicago and drooling over Ryne Sandberg at Wrigley...long before the lights
Now she is a Chicago mom of a sassy 6-year-old and an old Black Lab named Hudson.
Not enough? Here’s more...
Favorite word – Unconditional
Least favorite word – Can’t
Favorite Chicago memory – Watching my grandfather make Coca-Cola from scratch at his house in Ravenswood then taking the train into the city and feeling like a big girl as we went to Marshal Fields all dressed up for lunch
Biggest Moment – Adoption Day!! My daughter was 8 months old when she was placed with me and I was her foster mom for 4 ½ years before we made it official
Lou’s or Gino’s – Lou Malnati’s!! I mail my friends all over the country frozen pizzas as gifts
College – Indiana University. Go Hoosiers!!
TV – Anything on Investigation Discovery (I have a disturbing knowledge of serial killers)
Favorite Hobby – Krav Maga – Israeli hand-to-hand combat. I’m small but I’m mighty. And I have a heavy bag in my living room!
Most annoying trait – Very picky eater. Though I’m sure my partner Dave keeps a running list of my annoying traits. So...see him
Dogs or cats – Dogs! I love my dogs more than I like most people
Something I learned to do recently – Drive! Before that I walked, Ubered or Red Lined pretty much everywhere
The thing I would tell my younger self – It’s not about you.
Quote that sums me up...
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
