Volkswagen is deciding to pull the plug on the Beetle’s production. According to Autocar, research and development leader, Frank Welsch has confirmed that they will turn their attention from the classic retro-design to another of Volkswagen’s iconic designs: the microbus. We can expect the new Volkswagen Microbus sometime around 2021 or 2022.
This isn’t the first time the Volkswagen Beetle model was discontinued. In 1974, production ended on the Beetle, which experienced a revival in 1997.
