Roseanne Barr issued a shocking series of tweets Monday night and Tuesday before quitting the social media service. In response, ABC cancelled the reboot of her titular show. Barr is now blaming Ambien for her Tweet comparing Valerie Jarrett to an “ape.” Ambien is a sedative commonly used for treating insomnia.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment said: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.” The series reboot had been averaging a 5.5 rating among adults 18-49 and 19.3 million viewers.
