Aretha Franklin did not leave a will

Aretha Franklin passed away in Detroit, Michigan on August 16th.  She did not tell her sons, Clarence, Edward and KeCalf Franklin, and Ted White Jr. who gets what.  In Michigan, the deceased’s possessions and assets are divided equally among their children.

Franklin will be laid to rest at Detroit’s Woodlawn Cemetery following her August 31st funeral service at Greater Grace Temple. The funeral will follow an open casket public viewing on August 28th and 29th at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, where her body will lie in state. The viewing will be held from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on both days.
