Warner Bros.’ Crazy Rich Asians topped the box office for the second weekend, with $25 million, registering a drop of just 6%. Even more impressively, Crazy Rich Asians brought in $10.3 million in its second Saturday, the same amount it made last weekend.
This is the third win for Warner Bros. at the box office, and the second weekend in a row that it toped the top two spots, thanks to The Meg, which chomped up $13 million.
Meanwhile, Melissa McCarthy’s gross-out comedy The Happytime Murders bombed with a $9-$10 million opener. Observers say the lackluster numbers came from a low promotional effort, possibly itself due to a C- CinemaScore and two stars on PostTrak.
