AMC is bringing back Burt Reynolds’ 1977 hit comedy Smokey and The Bandit. Smokey and The Bandit will play at 240 AMC locations starting Wednesday for a nine-day run, as a tribute to the late actor, who died on Thursday. Tickets will be $5, or lower, depending on the theatre.
Originally made with a budget of $4 million, it was one of the most successful movies in his career, grossing $126 million for Universal. The film stared Sally Field, Jerry Reed, and Jackie Gleason among others. There were sequels in 1980 and 1983, though Reynolds had only a cameo in the third film.
Show dates are September 12th to September 20th.
