Scrabble just added 300 new words to its list of approved words, and they include many that would puzzle the first players of the popular board game when it was introduced in the 1950s. The new words include “twerk,” “bestie” and “frowny,” as in “frowny face.

But, the one you really need to know if you’re a Scrabble player is “qapik.” It’s the monetary unit of Azerbaijan and it’s one of those rare “q” words that doesn’t require a “u.”
