A new report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics says that almost 40 percent of Americans eat fast food on any given day. Its survey of American adults between 2013 and 2016 found that 36.6 percent of them said they’d eaten fast food in the previous 24 hours.
People ages 20 to 39 were the most likely to say they ate fast food during the past day, at nearly 45 percent, followed by those 40 to 59, at nearly 38 percent, and those older than age 60, at around 24 percent. In a surprise finding, eating fast food went up with income, despite its low price. Among higher-income adults, 42 percent ate fast food on a given day, compared to nearly 32 percent of those towards the lower end of the income spectrum. (Time)
