Former schools being turned into housing for teachers including one in Chicago

The children are our future…and the people teaching them are having a hard time affording housing.  A new trend has begun all over the country of turning former school buildings into affordable housing for teachers.  Schools in Palo Alto, California, Silicon Valley, Miami and Washington D.C. are being eyed or used to be converted into livable homes.  Locally, a closed Humboldt Park school is set to be converted into one of these, “Teachers Villages.”  Recycling dilapidated buildings to ensure housing for our teachers sounds like a good plan to me!
