This year’s open enrollment for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act has begun, with sign-ups getting underway at HealthCare.gov yesterday (November 1st). This is the sixth sign-up season since the ACA became law, with the website serving people in 39 states, and the rest of the states and Washington, D.C., having their own sign-up websites.
Average premiums for 2019 insurance plans under the ACA are going up only by low single-digit percentages, and insurers are also expanding their participation. Open enrollment for coverage starting on January 1st will end on December 15th.
