U.S. online spending set to rocket 14.8% to $124.1 billion in 2018 holiday season

Online shopping is so easy, so it should come as no surprise that people are doing it more and more. The new Adobe Analytics forecast predicts that during the holiday shopping season online spending will grow 14.8 percent to a total of $124.1 billion for the year. That’s a far cry from the increase predicted for brick-and-mortar store shopping, which is predicted to increase just 2.7 percent. Online sales this year will benefit from an extra day between Cyber Monday to Christmas, which is predicted to provide a $284 million sales boost.

Meanwhile, Thanksgiving Day sales are expected to increase by 16.5 percent, generating $3.3 billion. Adobe says Thanksgiving (November 22nd) will be a good day to buy sporting goods, Black Friday (November 23rd) will be a good day to purchase televisions, apparel should be cheapest on November 25th, and toys are likely to be cheapest on Cyber Monday (November 26th.)
