Rumor has it that Eddie Murphy is being courted to replace Hart as host for the 2019 Academy Awards. According to RadarOnline, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences reached out to Murphy “in hopes that he would agree to host” after Kevin Hart stepped down from the gig following his refusal to apologize for old tweets. He later apologized.
