The Rolling Stones have postponed their upcoming North American stadium tour, due to an unspecified ailment of Mick Jagger‘s. The 15-date trek was supposed to kick off on April 20th in Miami Gardens, Florida at the Hard Rock Stadium. Several unconfirmed reports state that Jagger’s issue is not an illness, but rather an injury he suffered while training for the upcoming dates. So far, there’s been no definitive reason offered for Jagger’s need to postpone the tour.
An official statement was issued which read: “Mick Jagger has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible.”
Variety posted: “A source close to the situation claims, ‘(Jagger’s) not bed-ridden’ and in fact was seen at a Miami restaurant with bandmembers on Friday night (March 29th)”
The paper went on to state: “The New York Post reported Jagger’s doctors ‘found something’ that required ‘immediate attention’ and recommended treatment at a U.S. hospital. ‘This is not a serious thing,’ a source close to the band said.”
Jagger himself took to social media apologizing to fans, saying, “I’m so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets. I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.”
Keith Richards tweeted to fans: “A big disappointment for everyone but things need to be taken care of and we will see you soon. Mick, we are always there for you!”
Ron Wood also took to Twitter, saying, “We’ll miss you over the next few weeks, but we’re looking forward to seeing you all again very soon. Here’s to Mick. Thanks for your supportive messages it means so much to us.”
