When Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck made his stunning announcement Saturday (August 24th) that he’s retiring, team owner Jim Irsay was reported by the NFL Network to have said that the 29-year-old was potentially giving up almost $500 million in career earnings if he would have played for around another decade. The money apparently wasn’t worth it for Luck, newly-married and with a baby on the way, who spoke about being worn down and exhausted by repeated injuries during his seven-year career.
