I’m curious what you thought of Joker. Did you see it yet?
I have to admit I went in thinking I wouldn’t like it.
I am a huge DC and Marvel movie fan but some of the darker movies – Logan (X-Men) and Dark Knight (Batman movie with Heath Ledger) – were not really my favorites.
I was wrong. Very very wrong.
Joker was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, It wasn’t a comic book or superhero movie. It was an incredible cinematic achievement. And I’m not one of those movie snobs that loves all the Oscar nominated movies. I’m a check-your-brain-at-the-door moviegoer.
I don’t even have the words for how good Joaquin Phoenix was. He made you feel for a character that should be completely impossible to root for.
The story and the telling of it was close to perfect. It was dark but not depressingly so. It was violent but no more so than the story called for or that I’ve seen in other movies.
I was shocked at how much I loved it and how excellent it was.
