After 8 hours of Disney+… Is it worth it?

The short answer: Yes.  After 8 hours of use, I can say I’m not only satisfied with the wide variety of content available already on the app, but I’m very excited to see the future of Disney+.  Turning on the Disney+ App, you will find a very familiar layout akin to that of Netflix.  You will also find so much Disney-owned content in one place.  All the well-known classics are here: search a Disney-animated film, you will find it.  From Modern movies like Moana and Wreck-It Ralph to certified cinematic treasures like Snow White and The Lion King, to the obscure like The Great Mouse Detective and Fun and Fancy Free, if it’s Disney, it’s here.  The live action film collection is REALLY cool too.  There’s classics I used to have to catch on the Disney Channel like Bed Knobs and Broomsticks and The Sign of Zorro.  You’ll even find a healthy collection of Marvel movies, Pixar media and films AND Star Wars movies.  PLUS they’re making movies exclusively to the app.  I watched the live action remake of Lady and The Tramp today and it was adorable!

How about the TV selection?  Again, if you can think it, it’s probably here.  ALMOST every Disney animated and live action TV series I could think of (and that’s a long list for this Disney fanatic) is here.  Disney, let me know when you add WeekendersLlloyd in Space, and Aladdin: The Animated Series.  Also, there’s plenty from Marvel, and even 30 seasons of The Simpsons!  The star of the app though is Star Wars’ new series, The Mandalorian.  This is easily the coolest piece of Star Wars media I’ve ever consumed. Episode one is like an old western in the Star Wars universe told from the perspective of a bounty hunter.  Star Wars fans and casuals will LOVE this.  Also, Jeff Goldblum is a gem in his new series: The World According to Jeff Goldblum.

The future holds promise for this app.  There are a slew of Marvel TV shows coming up, more episodes of The Mandalorian, new shows, new movies, more from the Disney vault and Disney’s other properties that we can look forward to joining this ever-expanding app.  I did worry there may be a lack of content compared to Disney+’s predecessors like Netflix and Hulu, but I have found those worries to be unfounded.  There’s so much here you would have had to have spent big cash on or been VERY lucky to find on sale or on television late at night to view.  There’s plenty for the kids and even a monitoring feature so they stick to the programs for kids.  That also means, there’s plenty that adults will find and love here too.

This app is for me and if anything I’ve said sounds appealing, it’s probably for you too.  You can try it for free with a 7-day trial.  It costs $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year.  Check it out for yourself here.
