CBS News Travel Editor Peter Greenberg shared some money-saving tips and tricks for when to book air travel this year. Greenberg pointed out that the only people taking planes right now are those traveling for work, making ticket deals sparse. He did, however, recommend booking holiday flights now. Greenberg explained, “If you’re thinking about flying in November or December, when the airlines have no idea who’s going to be flying, now is the time to pick up some great deals for Thanksgiving and Christmas.”
Greenberg expects an increase in road trips this summer, believing travelers will want to be self-contained. Therefore, airlines are less likely to give price breaks so they can maximize their earnings from what little customers they receive. So, if you want to roll the dice and plan ahead for the holidays, now’s the time to score those discounted tickets!
