For anyone who has ever watched Tom and Jerry, you know the solution for a rat problem. And Chicago has a BIG rat problem. Orkin has renamed Chicago as the Rattiest City in the U.S.
The Tree House Humane Society released 1,000 feral cats in Chicago that will kill some rats but, more importantly, spread pheromones that keep the rats away. They call it their Cats at Work program, in which they release and monitor the ferral cats to deal with rats, which the society says is safer than rat poison.
So if you see a cat wandering in Chicago, it’s possible that that cat is doing a job to clean up the city!
