Chicago Ald. wants to make sports betting legal at games

Alderman Walter Burnett wants to lift the ban that is keeping betting on games on site from happening.

The Ald. wants people to be able to put money down on their teams of choice at Wrigley Field, Guaranteed Rate Field, Soldier Field, the United Center and Wintrust Arena.

This is in response to Draft Kings and the Cubs partnership that is attempting to make Wrigley Field house the first stadium sportsbook in MLB.

There is opposition to this attempt though…

The Chicago Sun Times reports that Mayor Lori Lightfoot has, ‘vowed to impose “tight restrictions” on sports betting to avoid turning Chicago neighborhoods into “the Las Vegas strip.”’
