Mariano’s has agreed to purchase Jewel Osco for $24.6 billion to create a Super Chain of stores to better compete against giants like Wal-Mart and Whole Foods. The deal will pend government approval.

It’s likely we will see one of the two stores disappear after the merger as the other takes over. So will Jewel-Osco look more like Mariano’s stores? Will all the stores be called Mariano’s-Osco??
