April 5th has been dubbed Portillo’s Day

Portillo’s Day is now an official Chicago holiday!

Mayor Lori Lightfoot has decreed that the Chicago staple will be recognized each year on April 5th. The holiday is created in time for Portillo’s 60th anniversary.

To celebrate, Portillo’s will host an event at its Rosemont location that will feature the original “Dog House” trailer that served as the first Portillo’s hotdog stand.
