Celebrate Chicago’s 187th birthday with a $187 hot dog

There’s no shortage of luxuries to try throughout Chicago, and two hotels have just upped the ante.

If you thought a hot dog and beer at a baseball game was expensive, Pendry Chicago is blowing that out of the water with its latest offering—a $187 hot dog combo. Celebrating the city’s 187th birthday, the decadent special features a French-style boudin blanc sausage on a poppy seed bun with black truffle granulated mustard, seared foie gras and a porcini rye crumble. The indulgence doesn’t end there though, as it’s served alongside an old fashioned made with Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged Bourbon, Macallan 12 Year Single Malt Scotch and Luxardo cherries, and topped with gold flakes (because why not?).

For something a little more affordable, the hotel is also creating an elevated version of the classic Chicago dog. It sports a traditional frank with truffle gouda fondue, dill pickled green tomato and truffle mustard aioli on Japanese milk bread, and is paired with an old fashioned starring Uncle Nearest Rye, Angostura bitters and Demerara sugar. The combo is priced at $28, and both specials will be available from March 1-4.
