Jack in the Box reenters the Chicago area with first new location

After a 40-year absence, Jack in the Box reentered the Chicago area on Monday with the grand opening of an establishment in the southwest suburbs.

The new fast food restaurant along Route 59 near Vermette Circle in Plainfield is one of eight locations across the region expected to open by September, according to the company. Serving customers 24 hours a day, the Plainfield restaurant has a dine-in area, drive-thru as well as mobile ordering capabilities, the chain said in a news release.

The iconic fast food chain announced in June it would open as many as 10 new locations in the city and suburbs over the next two years as part of a “strategic expansion” into the Chicago market.

The Plainfield restaurant’s opening “launches Jack in the Box’s broader Chicago market strategy, with the company identifying hundreds more potential trade areas for future corporate and franchise development throughout the region,” the company said in the news release, in part.

Here’s which other Chicago-area locations are planned and their opening dates:

  • Carol Stream: 441 E. Geneva Rd., opening Aug. 2025
  • Chicago: 7807 S. Cicero Ave., opening Sept. 2025
  • Countryside: 5656 s. La Grange Rd., opening July 2025
  • Lake in the Hills: 320 N. Randall Rd., opening Sept. 2025
  • Naperville: 1600 E. Ogden. Ave., opening Aug. 2025
  • New Lenox: 672 E. Lincoln Hwy., opening Aug. 2025
  • Tinley Park: 9550 179th St., opening Sept. 2025

Offering everything from burgers to chicken to tacos plus breakfast and milkshakes, Jack in the Box has more than 2,000 locations across the U.S., primarily on the West Coast.
