The Chicago Cubs will host the 2027 MLB All-Star Game at Wrigley Field.
The announcement was made by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred on Friday morning during a ceremony.
“It is my honor to award the 2027 All-Star game to the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field,” Manfred announced.
This will be the fourth All-Star Game at Wrigley Field, the last held in 1990.
The Cubs started its bid for the All-Star game eight years ago. Since then, the Ricketts have poured a significant amount of money into Wrigley renovations starting back in 2014.
The last hurdle for the Cubs to reportedly get over was enhancing security at the ball park, and that box was checked earlier this summer.
Governor JB Pritzker was in attendance for the announcement, along with Mayor Brandon Johnson, Cubs management and other local leaders.
The announcement was good news after the loss of Cubs legend Ryne Sandberg earlier this week.
“Fitting because Ryne played in 10 All-Star games. Noteably, he played in the last All-Star game that was at Wrigley in 1990. And he wont the Home Run Derby that year,” Tom Ricketts said during the ceremony.
The 2027 All-Star game at Wrigley Field is scheduled for July 13.
