Bears fan vowed to run a mile for every point the team loses by. Then Sunday happened

A Chicago Bears fan who promised to run a mile for every point the team loses by each week had his work cut out for him after Sunday’s 21-52 loss.

Chase Bandolik, a former college football player himself, had made a commitment before the season started and has been documenting his runs since the preseason.

But on Sunday, no one predicted just how high the score would go.

“The Chicago Bears could destroy my legs today,” Bandolik posted on TikTok ahead of the game, making a promise that sparked plenty of attention.

His video quickly garnered hundreds of thousands of views as fans watch the numbers during the Bears-Lions game quickly climb.

“Just start running from Chicago to Detroit,” one commenter said.

“You should start running before the game ends,” another wrote.

Bandolik himself said as the team was down 31-14, “I have no words.”

In the end, Jared Goff threw for 334 yards and matched a career high with five touchdown passes to help Detroit to a 52-21 win over the Bears.

That is 31 miles.

“And that’s how the Chicago marathon started,” one commenter said after the game.

“Legend has it he’s still running,” another said.

The post drew the attention of the Lions themselves, who commented shortly after the game “get to steppin bro.”

But Bandolik, a gym owner and ultra runner, is no stranger to long runs and completed his challenge that same night — and documented it all while tagging the Lions.

He began running after the game and completed the run after 10 p.m.

“It’s 10:05 p.m. right now and I might just sleep until next week’s game,” he said.

The Lions applauded him, commenting “man of his word. at least you’ll be in incredible shape.”

Bandolik plans to continue his challenge each week for the rest of the Bears season, a tradition he started last season.

The Bears are set to take on the Cowboys Sunday at home.
