A rare pair of Michael Jordan game-worn Air Jordan 1s from 1985 sold for more than $200,000.
The Air Jordan 1s Jordan wore on Oct. 26, 1985 in the Chicago Bulls vs. Detroit Pistons game that ignited one of the NBA’s fiercest rivalries, sold for $205,188.14 at Grey Flannel Auctions.
The sneakers were worn during the second game of the 1985-86 season, when tensions between the Bulls and the “Bad Boys” Pistons exploded into chaos at Chicago Stadium. The game featured a defining moment when Bill Laimbeer’s hard clothesline foul on Jordan. The physicality led to the clearing of both benches and the ejection of both head coaches, Stan Albeck and Chuck Daly.
As for Jordan, the GOAT still finished with 33 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 blocks, sealing the Bulls’ 121-118 victory with a clutch left-handed free throw in the game’s final seconds.
The game-worn Jordan 1 also featured MJ’s signature, as well as the original Air Jordan design with red and white leather uppers, black leather heel wrap with Nike Swoosh, and the iconic Air Jordan logo.
Bidding for the rare pair of sports history began Oct. 24 and lasted through Nov. 16. All told, the Jordan 1s garnered 24 bids.
