Need a break from holiday shopping? How about a puppy snuggle? At one suburban mall this weekend you can do just that — and you could even take a pup home.
This Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter in suburban Riverwoods will pop-up at Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills as part of a “Holiday Puppy Pop-up” at the shelter’s Hawthorn Mall Adoption Showcase, according to an announcement.
The pop-up comes after high demand from the shelter’s previous pop-up at the mall, held the weekend before.
“The response to our first weekend was exceptional, and we’re thrilled to give more puppies the chance to find their forever families,” Kristen Castro, one of the shelter managers said in the announcement. “There’s nothing quite like the joy of hanging out with a puppy, even if it’s just for a few minutes in between power shopping.”
According to organizers, prospective adopters should be prepared to complete an adoption application on site. Adoption counselors will be available to answer questions from families.
