As the Bears chase a potential Super Bowl run, two local rescue pups are guaranteed to take the field in this year’s Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet.
Chicago-based animal rescue One Tail at a Time announced Tuesday that two of its former shelter puppies will take the field during Puppy Bowl XXII.
According to the shelter, the pups, named Suzy and Vernon, will join dozens of puppies from rescues and shelters around the country as they compete for the Walmart “Lombarky” Trophy and the title of BISSELL MVP (Most Valuable Puppy).
Suzy will be playing for Team Fluff, while Vernon will be on Team Ruff.
While the two pups may be going head-to-head in the Puppy Bowl, their rivalry does not extend past the turf. The pair, who came to One Tail at a Time from a shelter partner in West Memphis, Arkansas, actually live near each other and play frequently.
Officials from One Tail at a Time said Suzy and Vernon were part of a litter of five, and they became healthy and adoptable in foster care before finding loving homes.
One Tail at a Time will host a Puppy Bowl XXII Viewing Party on February 8 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at Babe’s Sports Bar in Logan Square. Adoptable puppies and the Puppy Bowl stars will be in attendance. Entry is a donation of any amount benefiting OTAT.
The Puppy Bowl kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. on Animal Planet.
