The Chicago Air and Water Show will take over the city sky this weekend, with rehearsals beginning on Friday.
Here’s what to know if you plan to go.
When is the Air & Water Show?
Rehearsals will held Friday, Aug. 14, while the show itself is Saturday, Aug. 15, and Sunday, Aug. 16. Festivities start at 10:30 a.m. and wrap up at 3 p.m. daily.
Where can you see it?
While many of the flight shows stretch along the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, the best viewing for both the sky and lake activities is at North Avenue Beach at 1600 North Lake Shore Drive.
What is the best way to get there?
There is no public parking at North Avenue Beach over Air & Water weekend. Public transportation is strongly encouraged. Spectators can plan their CTA trip by using: transitChicago.com/planatrip
How much does it cost to attend?
Admission is free. The City of Chicago heralds it as the largest free show of its kind in the U.S.

In case of an emergency, look for the pole markers!
Look up! For public safety, green and white pole markers are attached to light poles at North Avenue Beach from Oak Street to Fullerton serving as location identifiers if spectators need to call 9-1-1 to report suspicious activity, an emergency or injury. The numbers provide first responders with your exact location. They can also be used to reunite with family or friends should you become separated.
