Starting Tuesday, June 19th, you will start seeing lighthouses pop up along the Magnificent Mile that is Michigan Avenue. Lighthouses painted and decorated by various artists are planned to be placed on display through August 11th. “Lighthouse on The Mag Mile” is an artistic project started by father/son team, Nino and Mario Rodriguez in an attempt to raise awareness of children with disabilities.
CEO of Chicago Lighthouse told ABC 7 News, “We are celebrating access and inclusion in the workforce, in arts and transportation. And these are areas where Chicago has been a pioneer and a leader in the country, in the world, for people with disabilities.” I already see the potential to shine light on the subject through this public display.
