Michael Jordan expected to be at Chris Chelios’ jersey retirement

Michael Jordan, the former Chicago Bulls legend, is rarely seen in public these days. But, apparently, he will soon be making a public appearance in the Windy City—just not for the team you’d expect.

Chicago Blackhawks legend Chris Chelios will be getting his jersey retired Sunday and told WSCR-AM 670 that he believes Jordan, his longtime friend, is expected to attend the ceremony.

“I’m going to have them try to bring everybody I possibly can that’s had an impact on me and obviously [Jordan] was a big part of my ’90s,” Chelios said on the Mully and Haugh Show, per the Chicago Tribune. “They’re going to be here to support me. I got a pretty good Rolodex over the span of my career so I’m loading up. This a last hurrah and I’m going to make it a good one.”

Chelios was traded to the Blackhawks from the Montreal Canadiens in 1990 and played in Chicago until 1999. Over his illustrious NHL career, he was selected to 11 All-Star Games and won thee Stanley Cups. For his time in Chicago, he’ll be getting his No. 7 jersey retired Sunday afternoon before the game against Detroit Red Wings.
