Thousands of fireworks recalled in the Midwest

More than 36,000 fireworks were recalled in Michigan and Indiana.

Days before the Fourth of July holiday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled thousands of fireworks due to “overload of pyrotechnics intended to produce an audible effect”. This created a federal violation of regulation.

Authorities said two young boys, ages 8 and 12, were testing out their firework purchase. Both boys were injured and one of the boys lost his hand when lighting the broken end of the rocket.

Grandma’s Fireworks in West College Corner, Indiana, had the largest recall with 25,000 units of 18 different types of fireworks. Patriot Pyrotechnics in Sheridan, Michigan, had 22 kinds of fireworks recalled, totaling about 11,000 units. A little of South of Sheridan, Michigan, GS Fireworks in Wyoming, Michigan, recalled about 260 units of 26 different kinds of fireworks.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission suggests that anyone who has purchased fireworks from these locations should stop using them immediately and contact the seller for a full refund.
