First Chicago-born babies of 2024!

The first babies of the New Year were born Monday morning at Chicago-area hospitals.

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital reported baby Ocean was born at 3:18 a.m. to a Wheeling couple, Emily and Wes Ortman. Ocean weighs 5 pounds and 2.4 ounces and is 18.75 inches long.

Lindsey and Jordan Platts welcomed a baby boy into their family around 4:44 a.m. at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale. They are still undecided on his name. The baby weighs 6 pounds and 5 ounces and is 19.5 inches long. He has a 2-year-old brother named Lane.

Around 5 a.m., Kiara and Robert Rhodes welcomed the birth of baby Rue at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Ruse weighs 4 pounds and 9 ounces and is 17 inches long. Rue has two older brothers, Robert and Kityi.

Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva reported the birth of Pearl Noelle Hodge around 5:28 a.m. She weighs 7 pounds and 5 ounces and is nearly 20 inches long.

She was born to Andrea Cladis-Hodge and Matthew Hodge as their third child. Their first child was born on New Year’s Eve.

Tessa and Christian Smith of Pingree Grove welcomed baby Cole into the world at 10:12 a.m. He was born at Advocate Sherman Hospital, weighing 6 pounds and 5.6 ounces and is 19 inches long. Cole has no siblings, yet.

The first baby for Cook County Health was Moses Tenorio. He was born at 9:39 a.m. at Stroger Hospital, at 6 pounds and 4 ounces. He was 18 inches long. The parents are Marisol Feliciano and Cosme Tenorio, of Chicago.

At Franciscan Health Family Birth Center Dyer, the first baby on New Year’s Day was born at 9:21 a.m. Sophia Kylie Morton was born to Omni Shedrich and Christopher Morton, of Hammond. She weighed 6 pounds and 10 ounces.
