Paul McCartney turned a couple’s special day into one for the history books when he jumped onstage to sing “I Saw Her Standing There” with the wedding band. The former-Beatle, who along with wife Nancy Shevell, was attending the New York nuptials of Shevell’s nephew in Lake Success on Saturday night (June 16th). TMZ reported, “‘Macca’ did an impromptu performance for about 300 guests at Fresh Meadow Country Club in Long Island on Saturday with the 20-piece wedding band. The groom was from his wife Nancy’s side of the family.”

McCartney has always jumped at the chance to get up with a random band and just knock out a few rockers for a crowd already out on a dance floor. He explained a while back to Pulse, that although rock was seen as a rebellious and adventurous type of music in the 1950’s, he was aware early on that every era — past and present — would experience both genres and performers that pushed boundaries: “It never felt rebellious to me. The music was never. . . I never thought it was rebellious. My dad didn’t particularly like it, but he’d had stories about how his dad didn’t like his music. So, my dad was very tolerant with all of that. He knew I had to do something ‘funny’ that he wasn’t going to like, so he was ready for all that.”
