The military radio DJ that inspired Robin Williams character has died

R.I.P. Adrian Cronauer, the man who served as inspiration to the cinematic classic, “Good Morning, Vietnam!”  Cronauer really did inspire a generation of military men across seas as he’d kick off his broadcasts with those same words from the film title.

He realized, working at the military station in Nam that the young soldiers didn’t want the conservative programming he was ordered to deliver.  He wanted to sound more like a radio station from the states and he certainly achieved that.  The late Robin Williams portrayed Cronauer in, “Good Morning Vietnam.”  It is thanks to Cronauer that our servicemen were given an upbeat taste of home through music and antics and thanks to both of these men that we have this amazing movie to remember that by.  Adrian Kronauer was 79-years-old.
