Paul McCartney’s cavern gig filmed & heading to Cannes

Paul McCartney‘s recent appearance at Liverpool’s new Cavern Club was professionally filmed and will premiere at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. The Daily Beatle reported “(The show) filmed by a crew headed by director Paul Dugdale, who also made the Rolling Stones‘ films Havana Moon and Ole Ole Ole! The Cannes Film Festival will take place from Tuesday, May 14th to Saturday, May 25th. After that, (the concert film) has a tentative release on Blu-ray/DVD.”

Hollies singer-guitarist, Liverpudlian Terry Sylvester, replaced Graham Nash in the band and made his bones in such Liverpool groups as the Escorts and the Swinging Blue Jeans. Having played the original Cavern Club countless times, he told us that although an immensely historic and legendary venue — at the end of the day, the place was dump. That said, he remains amazed that the city of Liverpool would have let it be demolished back in 1973: “But, I mean, certainly the Liverpool City Council in their wisdom, filled it in with bricks to make a car park for 12 cars is ridiculous. It’s like flattening Elvis (Presley’s) place, y’know, Graceland, and building a car park. It just doesn’t make sense.”

Paul McCartney will issue “Fuh You,” the third track from his upcoming Egypt Station album today (August 15th) at 12 Noon ET. Egypt Station will be released on September 7th through Capitol Records.
