The Daily Meal has released their list of “The Must-Try Foods in All 50 States.”  This of course included Illinois: declaring that everyone should try an Italian Beef while they’re here.  I can’t argue with that.  The iconic sandwich from the Midwest is actually not a common find outside of the surrounding states of Illinois.  The Daily Meal recommends Al’s beef, calling it “The definitive version,” of Italian Beef sandwiches.

Neighboring states, Indiana and Wisconsin’s recommended tries were breaded pork tenderloin and fried cheese curds respectively.  I don’t know about you, but after writing this, I could go for a couple of sandwiches and a side of the cheese curds!
