Whole Foods is raising prices

It looks some of the price cuts Amazon put in place after it bought Whole Foods in mid-2017 were just a tease, with The Wall Street Journal reporting that the chain just raised its prices on hundreds of items.

The Journal cited an internal Whole Foods email from December as saying it had to raise prices because of inflation causing product brands to raise their prices, and because of the expiration of contracts Whole Foods had with some vendors that allowed them to sell certain items at lower prices. Prices have gone up on more than 550 products, with some as little as a few cents higher, while others are up by as much as a few dollars. The average price hike is 66 cents.
