Mick Jagger and Keith Richards still haven’t gotten the blues out of their system. The “Glimmer Twins” appear on separate tracks on blues legend Buddy Guy‘s upcoming set, The Blues Is Alive And Well. Rolling Stone reported that Jagger supplies vocals on the track “You Did The Crime” with Richards teaming up with Jeff Beck on “Cognac.” The Blues Is Alive And Well, which is Guy’s followup to 2015’s Born To Play Guitar, will be released on June 15th.

Keith Richards recalled to us the early-’60s Edith Grove apartment in London, where he and a pre-fame Mick Jagger and Brian Jones schooled themselves in the fundamentals of the blues: “That’s where it was formed in that one joint. We just sat there with no gigs, just trying to hone down, figure out how a band should sound. That’s what it’s about.”

Richards explained that the mission for the band forming over 55-years-ago was in an attempt to turn as many people as possible on to the blues: “That was the whole point, I think, and the Rolling Stones, when they started, were, like, fanatically idealistic that other people should know about the blues. And if we can just make a small contribution into letting people know that there is this music out there. It is fascinating and it’s black and it comes basically from (laughs) Africa — y’know, originally — and how it integrated in society and America.”
