The Julian Frampton Band is hitting the Sunset Strip tonight (May 10th) at L.A.’s The Viper Room. Julian, the son of the legendary Peter Frampton, has been making his bones over the years, wowing crowds with an acoustic opening set with Frampton Band keyboardist Ben Sheridan during Peter’s recent “Raw” tour, and showing off his extraordinary pipes with assorted guests during the elder Frampton’s celebrated “Guitar Circus” trek.
Julian and the band have been making a name for themselves with their mixture of alt, classic, and prog rock influences. Julian’s clearly geared up for tonight’s gig in which the band will preview its new single, “Looking For An Answer”: “Thursday, May 10th — Viper Room. We go on 10, 10:30, really excited. We played Viper, like, a year ago, now — so it’s really great to get back in there, and we’ll be promoting a new single that we’ll be dropping a little later this month. So everybody that comes will get, like, a free download card that we’ve made up that will just allow them to scan a little QR code and it comes right up on your phone.”
Julian went on to explain that the Frampton Band is putting in some serious time in the rehearsal room: “We try to get in there once a week, y’know, when we have a gig coming up. As long as we have stuff booked — we’re rehearsing. But, as far as them doing other projects, y’know, I want them to be able to do anything and everything that they can get their hands on — so we usually try to get in there once a week. That’s kind of our goal.”
In addition to Frampton and Sheridan, the Julian Frampton Band features Ricky Rakken on bass, Mike Liz on guitar, and Guy Azoulay on drums.
