Happy National Chocolate Chip Day!!!

Today we celebrate, arguably, the best cookie ingredient ever.  May 15th commemorates National Chocolate Chip Day.

Where did this delightful treat come from?  Ruth Graves Wakefield created them back in 1937 while working at the Toll House Inn, adding chunks of a Nestle chocolate bar to her cookie recipe.  Nestle got word of how popular this concoction was and made an agreement with Wakefield, adding her recipe to their chocolate bar packaging in exchange for a lifetime supply of chocolate.  Eventually, Nestle would call the recipe, “Toll House Cookies,” named for the Inn at which Wakefield worked.
