Bryan Adams is back on the road in North America and plays tonight (July 5th) in Ottawa at RBC Bluesfest at Lebreton Flats Park. Adams, who’s spent the better part of the spring criss-crossing Europe has a string of Canadian dates set for July and August hitting St. John’s, Newfoundland; Sydney, Nova Scotia; Summerside, Prince Edward Island; Toronto, Ontario; and his sole U.S. gig in Vienna, Virginia.
The new musical version of Pretty Woman featuring music by Adams and longtime collaborator Jim Vallance begins previews on July 20th for an August 16th opening at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre.
Despite all the success and accolades Bryan Adams has received over the years, he told Pulse he still takes pride in the fact that he’s a working musician: “My schedule — sort of today — after all the work I’ve done is still pretty busy. We go out 10 days a month on tour. I’m basically somewhere. You can always see me somewhere in the world some month if you got a plane ticket. The way I like to work now is like basically 10 days a month. And y’know, that suits me because it’s enough time on tour to make it fun and interesting, and it’s enough time at home that I want to get back on the road again.”
Bryan Adams told Pulse that during every concert he’s always looking to get the audience involved with the show: “I’ll see someone out there and it’ll just spur on some sort of barrage of comments and then from there just get people involved and then next thing you know, someone will yell something. It’s called audience participation really. It’s also just trying to have laugh with everybody. If somebody wants to hear a song, y’know, sometimes we drag ’em up on stage.”
