Sting And Shaggy Release Collab – Greg Brown’s Music News

Sting Debuts Collaboration With Shaggy

Sting has been working with Jamaican-American musician, singer and DJ Shaggy on some new material. The pair debuted their first “Caribbean-flavored” collaboration back on January 6th at a charity show in Jamaica to raise money for the Bustamante Hospital For Children in Kingston. A studio version of the track “Don’t Make Me Wait” will be released on February 2nd. There’s no word as to whether the recently completed tracks will be released as “an album or EP, or a handful of standalone tracks.” (Sting.com)

Prince’s Likeness To Be Used For Live Band Aid

Well, it didn’t take long for this to happen. According to Rolling Stone, “Prince‘s video likeness will appear onstage April 21st with a live band at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The event, Prince: Live On The Big Screen will include video and audio of ‘remastered and never-before-released’ material.” Much like the recent Elvis Presley live events; the video footage will be augmented by special guests and former Prince bandmates.

Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson Gets An ‘A’

Brian Wilson‘s “F” in his high school music class has been upgraded nearly 60 years later to an “A.” Back in 1959, the Beach Boys leader submitted the music to what became the band’s first single, 1961’s “Surfin’,” which originally earned Wilson an “F.” Wilson posted on Twitter: “Brian’s high school music teacher Fred Morgan: ‘Brian wrote a composition for me and it turned out to be ‘Surfin’. That composition got an F, but it made a million dollars.’ Brian’s failing grade has now been changed to an ‘A’ on this assignment by (Hawthorne High School’s principal) Dr. Landesfeind!”
